It seems like there is a light at the end of the tunnel as we start to discuss in-person programs for the fall and winter, and I know many of you are eager to connect with the world soon. In preparation, I wanted to share a few thoughts about how you can be a citizen diplomat in Utah until then.
Discuss world affairs - You can find many of our past lectures on our YouTube channel - check it out!
Explore international cuisine - Perhaps try the restaurants, food trucks, and chefs who participate in the Spice Kitchen Incubator. A project of the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Spice Kitchen Incubator brings together refugees and other disadvantaged community members who are interested in starting a full or part-time food business.
Attend cultural festivals & learn about traditional arts - Utah's many events and festivals can be a great way to have a good time and get to know the myriad of cultures that make Utah unique. Particularly in the summer, cultural and arts festivals and events pop up around the state. Check out VisitUtah.com to find more details about upcoming events and festivals.
Welcome people from around the world, virtually and in-person, to Utah - For more than fifty years, Utah Global Diplomacy has fostered citizen diplomacy by hosting meaningful person-to-person interactions between the people of Utah and individuals from around the world through our International Exchange Program. Connect with international peers through sports - Sports in Utah help enhance our economy, image, and quality of life and often engage world-class athletes with the people of Utah. Check out the Utah Sports Commission to find out about sporting events hosted in Utah.
Volunteer with an NGO - Volunteers are still needed to support the missions of nonprofit, faith-based, and government organizations in Utah. Find a volunteer opportunity near you.
