We are seeking mentors to be part of a new program we are implementing called the International Leadership Academy, an innovative opportunity that nurtures Utah's career-ready young adults to become diplomats and international leaders.
What is the International Leadership Academy?
The International Leadership Academy is a program that focuses on helping cohorts of young professionals connect with international careers in business, nonprofits, and government agencies. Components of the International Leadership Academy include:
- A comprehensive 10-week program that uses world affairs to teach career-ready young adults practical employable skills
- Ongoing professional development workshops
- Industry and skills-based mentorships - that is where you come in!
- Access to career and internship opportunities
Who We Need:
We're seeking people like you who have worked in unique industries or have developed professional skills that are vital for career-ready young adults.
For example, if you have experience in the following industries:
- Foreign Service Officers
- Climate Change
- Nonprofit Management
- Economics
- Conflict Resolution
- Geopolitics
- Journalism
- Soft Diplomacy, including cultural diplomacy
- Other areas of expertise
Or have you mastered the following skills:
- Team Building
- Strategic Planning
- Program Development
- Ethics
- Budgeting
- Communications
- Pitching
- Public Speaking
- Other valuable skills
The Commitment:
Being a mentor for the International Leadership Academy isn't a huge demand - we anticipate you will spend up to 15 hours per year mentoring career-ready young adults. It is the responsibility of the young adult to connect with you to request a virtual or in-person meeting and come prepared with questions they want to ask you.
You may also be invited to present at brief workshops scheduled between February and April 2024.
We'll also seek your valuable feedback at the end of each year to continually enhance the International Leadership Academy experience.
