Community Member At Large

Judianne Peterson hails from an Idaho farm family of 11 children, where she experienced a rich and formative upbringing rooted in close-knit familial relationships. After completing two years of college, she served an 18-month proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Porto, Portugal. Upon returning, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and married Randy Peterson.

The couple soon relocated to Arlington, Massachusetts, where Randy pursued a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology while Judianne taught piano to 13 students. Their 21 years in the Boston area proved to be transformative for Judianne, as she formed meaningful connections with people from around the world, broadening her worldview and deepening her appreciation for diverse cultures.

Eight years ago, Judianne and her family settled in Salt Lake City. Grateful for the flexibility this season of life offers, she dedicates her time and energy to volunteer efforts that empower individuals and strengthen communities. A passionate lifelong learner, she has recently engaged in University of Utah Osher Institute courses on a wide range of topics, including Islam, Christianity, women in religion, Quakerism, Persian cooking, ancient grains, and local Utah history.

Her love of international cultures and curiosity about the human experience have led her to travel extensively—to Greece, Israel, Brazil, Mexico, England, Croatia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Japan, and the Netherlands. At her core, Judianne is committed to better understanding the beautiful complexities of humanity and to serving others with compassion and purpose.
